Fortunate to see a screening of this movie last night. It was fantastic. The enthusiasts will love it, but so will ones who do not know the scene very well. It’s 2.5 hours long, but it does not feel long. The do a great job telling the story while adding a little H ollywood flair into it. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you all, but go see this movie.

All movies about Le Mans should be 24 hours long

How are the car scenes? That is something that VERY few movies seem to get right in my opinion. Usually they’re either wildly dramatized chase (ala chase scenes with constant throttle mashing and shifting” or insanely boring “looking at you LeMan”. What was your assessment?

Better motorsports film than Rush?

Without me saying anything about this movie, my wife all on her own suggested to me that we see it this weekend. She gets impatient sitting through “long” movies in theaters and usually if something is much past 2.5 hours I make sure to point out the running time. But this time I might conveniently forget to share that detail.

I like both these actors and the topic is legendary. It could either be phenomenal success or an abysmal failure. I’m glad to hear it’s the former.

John Frankenheimer had a script called, ‘Endurance’. He was going to tackle LeMans but McQueen got his deal going first and then Frankenheimer got busy with other things. After Grand POrix, I would have loved to see how he would handle the Mul sanne straight.

A great mix of fine racing with a little Hollywood bump. There are a few scenes where the driver will make eye contact with the driver he is passing. We all know that rarely happens. There were a few inaccuracies, like Miles hitting 220 MPH on the front stre tch of Le Mans, but I can overlook that. Like mentioned, I never got bored with the movie, it keeps you engaged through the action filled scenes, as well as the down scenes.

When I first watched Rush, I had little to no knowledge on the rivalry between the two. The movie Rush made it look like they hated each other throughout the season, when I come to find out they were pretty close with each other. I knew a good portion of the history of this Ford v Ferrari story, and seeing it brought to life was awesome.
So to answer your question, I liked Ford v Ferrari more than I liked Rush.

I think she will enjoy it. F rom my fiance’s experience last night, she was able to follow the story line and such without getting overwhelmed by car lingo.

Same situation. A commercial for it came on the other night and before I could say anything, my wife says, “Ooh, I want to see that!” So, we’re probably going this weekend.

That would require Blockbuster to reserve shelf space for a dozen VHS cassettes for each copy , and they’d have to extend the late-fee window because viewing time is a full day.
Too long.

+1 for Grand Prix. I still think it’s a better movie than Le Mans, even though the later gets so much more credit for using bits of the race itself.

This is the first movie I plan on spendi ng money on and physically going to the theaters to see in close to a decade. I can’t wait to see it!
